The long-gestating Battlestar Galactica big screen adaptation has sign on Simon Kinberg to produce the sci-fi film. The X-Men producer will also write for the film, which is based on the classic 80s sci-fi series created by Glen A. Larson.
Battlestar Galactica was also previously revitalised into an updated series on SyFy, which ran for four seasons. The series as well as its two-part miniseries is currently available in its entirety on Amazon Prime Video. The updated franchise also spawned a prequel series, Caprica as well as a couple of direct-to-video films as well.
Despite not achieving a large following like Star Wars or Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica has achieved a cult-like status and a loyal following. In addition to the series and films, it also spawned a series of books, comics as well as toys. It is also the subject of a dual roller coaster attraction at Universal Studios Singapore.
The Battlestar Galactica movie is being developed by Universal Pictures.
