Following its release of its Batman figure, we can now check out some of the new additions of the Royal Selangor Batman Collection. Royal Selangor, in collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, has announced an inaugural collection spotlighting the Dark Knight and Gotham City’s greatest Super-Villains.
The Limited Edition Batman, the first figurine from this stellar collection, was unveiled on 20 July at the San Diego Comic-Con, one of the largest and most acclaimed pop cultural events in the world. Gripping his batarang tightly, the Dark Knight is ready to swoop down from the stone gargoyle and strike criminals that prowl the Gotham City streets.
But no Batman collection will be complete without Gotham City’s Clown Prince of Crime. Inspired by classic comic portrayals, Joker is sculpted to reveal the pale-faced psychotic Super-Villain in full monochromatic form — from the dishevelled hair, devilish grin, creased lines of his makeup and signature suit. Standing defiantly at 6 inches tall over the fallen seal of the Gotham City Police department and armed with serious firepower, he flaunts his calling card, taunting his arch nemesis Batman to go after him.
Affectionately dubbed the Keaton Mobile after Michael Keaton, the actor who played Batman in the 1989 movie, the iconic car established itself as a fan favourite with its distinctive rear fins and front-mounted jet turbine. This replica is recreated in antique finish to evoke the dark silhouette of the Batmobile as it roars through Gotham City in hot pursuit. It makes a stylish addition to any Batman collection.
Malaysian artist Alan Quah and sculptor Mufizal Mokhtar were commissioned by Royal Selangor to bring the Batman mythos to life.
The Royal Selangor Batman Collection is available at any Royal Selangor retail store, authorised dealers and online.
