Director Shawn Levy has revealed that he’s currently developing a sequel to Real Steel. This comes as a surprise to many as Real Steel was a significant hit in 2011 and it’s somewhat surprising that the director was able to keep news of this on the down low.
“We have been quietly developing a sequel to Real Steel for three and a half years,” revealed Levy when doing press rounds for his new film, This is Where I Leave You. We’ve come up with some great scripts but Hugh (Jackman) and I would only make it if the plot feels fresh. So it’s ongoing.”
Although Real Steel 2 remains on the director’s radar, he has nevertheless kept busy with a sleight of other projects. Levy has just completed Night at the Museum 3: Secret of the Tomb, which is set to open later this and he’s also circling a Sesame Street big screen adaptation, which is currently in development.
