Alan Rickman, the star of films such as Die Hard and the Harry Potter series has passed away at age 69 following a battle with cancer. The death of the British actor came as a shock, especially following the passing of iconic artist, David Bowie just a few days earlier.
The British actor was known for his memorable film roles in Die Hard where he played terrorist Hans Gruber opposite Bruce Willis’ John McClane. He was also well loved for his turn as Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter franchise.
Over the course of his film career he also starred in a number of diverse films including Love, Actually, Truly Madly Deeply, Galaxy Quest and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, where he portrayed the Sheriff of Nottingham. He also lent his voice in films such as Alice In Wonderland and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Rickman will last be seen on screen in the drone thriller, Eye in the Sky starring alongside Helen Mirren. He will be missed.
