Netflix’s latest Korean action film, Kill Boksoon will get a global premiere in February. The Korean production will meet global audiences at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, held from 16 to 26 February.
Invited to the Berlinale Special section, which features diverse works that resonate with a wide range of audiences, Kill Boksoon is a crime action film following Boksoon, who leads a double life as the mother of a teenage daughter and a legendary professional killer at a top-tier killing agency.
The film features Jeon Do-yeon, who will be returning for the third time to the festival after Untold Scandal and My Dear Enemy, and Sul Kyung-gu, also a returnee with his previous film Idol. The two powerful actors are joined by Kim Si-A (Miss Baek), Esom (Microhabitat), and Koo Kyo-hwan (Peninsula).
Director Byun Sung-hyun, who also wrote the screenplay, is a compelling storyteller who created memorable characters and stylish narratives in his highly acclaimed films The Merciless (2017), invited to the 70th Cannes Film Festival, and Kingmaker (2022).
“I am so pleasantly surprised and honoured. I wish to thank the Berlinale for the selection of Kill Boksoon, and hope this will be an exciting gift for all the actors that have worked together on the film,” shared the director on being invited to the festival.
Follow the footsteps of Boksoon with Jeon Do-yeon, who transformed into her role of a mother and a professional killer and feel the synergy among the actors that revolve around a dangerous yet playful dynamic between killers-for-hire.
A stylish crime action film, Kill Boksoon promises to deliver not only the suspense and the action but the laughs and the stories that will touch hearts. The highly anticipated film will be released only on Netflix later this year.
