In Netflix’s Sol Levante, a young warrior and her familiar search for the sacred place said to fulfil wishes. However she soon realises that in her quest, it is best not to anger the ancient guardians and spirits.
Although the premise sounds simple enough, the beauty of this Netflix production is the usage of art and technology to bring the story to life. Anime has always boasted diverse and fantastical stories, vibrant styles and delicate lines are an art form that has evolved from its creative home in Japan, and grown in global popularity, variety and sophistication over the last fifty years.
Now Netflix has expanded on that medium, by proudly showcasing the stunning world of Sol Levante; an original anime that is a culmination of art, technology, and curiosity.
The first-of-its-kind original anime short is designed in experimental 4K and HDR, and lifted by immersive audio.
Sol Levante has been a project two years in the making by a wide range of dedicated craftspeople both inside and outside Netflix, including Japanese production company Production I.G. that is led by director Akira Saitoh.
The animated short is now streaming on Netflix and is best enjoyed with any HDR configured device with your Premium subscription.
