In a bid to drum up more publicity for Bright, Netflix has tapped Southeast Asian actor, Aaron Aziz to act in a cool promo video. In the publicity vid, the actor is portraying a Toyol, and ‘interacting’ with the two headlining stars of Bright.
Can LAPD Officers Ward (Will Smith) and Jakoby (Joel Edgerton) take this very green newcomer under their wings? Or will the Toyol, played by Aaron Aziz, shed his terok ways to be a force of good?
Despite the humorous take, there’s no denying the appeal of Bright as the premise is set in an alternate present-day, where orcs, elves and other fairy tale creatures live alongside humans.
The action-thriller directed by David Ayer (Suicide Squad, End of Watch, writer of Training Day) follows two cops from very different backgrounds (Ward, a human played by Will Smith, and Jakoby, an orc played by Joel Edgerton) who embark on a routine patrol night that will ultimately alter the future as their world knows it.
Battling both their own personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, they must work together to protect a thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which in the wrong hands could destroy everything.
Bright is currently available on Netflix. In the meantime check out the ‘Toyol in Training’ featuring Aaron Aziz here.
