It took a while longer than expected but Marvel and Netflix have finally settled on the man who will portray Luke Cage a.k.a. Power Man in the new Jessica Jones series. Mike Colter, who is currently headlining the new Xbox original series Halo: Nightfall has been sign on to play Cage in the Jessica Jones TV 13-episode series that will air on Netflix in 2015. Colter has also appeared in TV series such as The Good Wife and American Horror Story: Coven.
As previously reported, Krysten Ritter will star as the titular character who will cross paths with Cage during one of her investigations. In the official release, Executive Producer/Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg said, “Mike embodies the strength, edge and depth of Luke Cage. We’re excited to have him bring this iconic Marvel character to life.”
Executive producer and Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb also chimed in, “Fans have longed to see Luke Cage and in Mike we’ve found the perfect actor. Viewers will get to meet Luke Cage in Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones, and experience why he is such an important super hero in the Marvel mythos.”
Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix. The series is scheduled to air in 2015.
