When it comes to the subject of Batman, Michael Keaton is the actor most fans associate the role with. So the news of the actor potentially donning the cape and cowl for another run as the iconic superhero is pleasantly surprising.
Keaton who starred in both Batman and Batman Returns, which were directed by Tim Burton, could play the Dark Knight once more in The Flash movie starring Ezra Miller. It’s been said the plot of the film could be based on ‘The Flashpoint Paradox’, which will see the Scarlet Speedster travel through time and possible dimensions, which will expand the DC Comics multiverse.
The scenario was teased briefly in the Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline that took place across several CW television series. Miller himself had a cameo in an end credits teaser as the Flash, who comes face to face with Grant Gustin’s Flash. This is of course suggests that Keaton’s Batman along with the other incarnations of the character we have seen over the years, including Robert Pattinson’s version all exist.
The Flash standalone film, which will be directed by Andy Muschietti, will see speedster journey back in time to prevent the death of his mother. However he winds up in another universe, where Keaton’s Batman still exists, although he is now 30 years older.
The premise needless to say is exciting and it will be interesting to see an actor the quality of Keaton return to take on the role that he is famously known for once again. The Flash is being planned for a release in summer 2022.
