Reading the official synopsis for Mara, one can immediately sense the similarities between this horror film and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
The official synopsis of the film reveals a storyline centred on criminal psychologist Kate Fuller who is assigned to the murder of a man who has seemingly been strangled in his sleep by his wife and the only witness is their eight-year-old daughter, Sophie.
As Kate digs into the mystery of an ancient demon which kills people in their sleep, she experiences the same petrifying symptoms as all previous victims and spirals through a chilling nightmare to save herself and Sophie before she dares fall asleep again.
I don’t know about you but what I read just seems to be Freddie Kruger’s m.o. As the saying goes if it sounds like Freddie, feels like Freddie then it probably is Freddie…except that when a franchise costs too much money, you go and create another nightmare demon instead, which is what you have in Mara.
Let’s hope it’s not a nightmare to watch, eh?
