Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ Kong: Skull Island reimagines the origin of the mythic Kong in a compelling, original adventure from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific—as beautiful as it is treacherous—unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.
Judging by the trailer for Kong: Skull Island the great ape is indeed larger than ever before. This could be the direct result of Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures efforts to merge together both the Kong Universe with the Godzilla universe for their planned monster crossover, which is in the pipeline.
Although the new trailer does not reveal much of the backstory, mostly focusing on what seems to be a cover military mission on a mysterious island. You’ve got to wonder that if the film’s plotline eludes to the events that occurred with 2014’s Godzilla film.
Starring Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson and supported by Samuel L. Jackson and John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Tian Jing, Thomas Mann, Shea Whigham and Toby Kebbell, Kong: Skull Island is set to open in March 2017.
