The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur invites Malaysian audiences to usher in the return of the Japanese Film Festival to selected Golden Screen Cinemas nationwide. Now in its 12th year, the much-awaited event will once again serve up an exciting cross-section of Japan’s diverse movie cultures.
The line-up of 13 titles will first make the rounds in Klang Valley at GSC Mid Valley, GSC Pavilion KL and GSC 1 Utama on 10–16 September, before touring Penang (GSC Gurney Plaza on 17–20 September), Kota Kinabalu (GSC Suria Sabah on 24–27 September) and Kuching (GSC CityONE Megamall on 1–4 October).
Renowned director Masato Harada will attend the opening ceremony at GSC Pavilion on 8 September to present his film Kakekomi. The samurai drama about feudal era divorce is a big hit in Japan and still attracts packed halls nearly four months after release. The feature will also be the curtain-raiser for Kuching on 1 October.
Other films that will feature at the Japanese Film Festival 2015 include: Our Little Sister, Unsung Hero, Our Family, Bolt from the Blue, Blindly in Love, Tamako in Moratorium, My Little Nightmare, Tokyo Losers, Petal Dance, The Adventures of Tyrano Boy, Initial D the Movie Legend 2: Racer and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin I – Blue-Eyed Casval.
All films are priced at RM7.50 (incl. 6% GST) except for Initial D the Movie Legend 2: Racer and The Adventures of Tyrano Boy, which will be sold at prevailing ticket pricing. All films are presented in Japanese with English subtitles.
