From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, only to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.
The first look at the new film doesn’t reveal much except that it continues after the events of the original franchise, with the return of some nefarious spirits of the netherworld. Interesting though is that Ghostbusters: Afterlife seems to suggest that the grandfather may well be Egon Spengler, played by the late Harold Ramis, who passed away in 2014.
Some key takeaways are of course the return of Ecto-1 and the inclusion of Paul Rudd who is portraying a school teacher who is familiar with the original ‘ghostbustin’ heroes. Although we don’t get to see the original cast return, they will have a part to play in this new sequel/reboot of the beloved franchise.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife star Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace. The film arrives in cinemas in July 2020.
