Alliance Francaise de Kuala Lumpur (AFKL) together with the Embassy of France in Malaysia, celebrated the launch of French Film Festival 2015 last Wednesday with a French themed cocktails and a preview screening of classic fairytale, “La Belle Etla Bete” (Beauty and The Beast) in GSC Pavilion KL.

Host for the evening was H.E. Christophe Penot (Ambassador of France to Malaysia), Y.A.M. Tengku Zatashah (President of AFKL), Mr Jean Pierre Galland (Cultural Counselor of the French Embassy) and Mr Jean Pierre Dumont (Director of AFKL). Joining them was guests, Y. Bhg. Dr Junaida Lee Abdullah (Deputy Secretary General, Ministry of Tourism & Culture Malaysia), Ms Koh Mei Lee (Chief Executive Officer, GSC), Mr Terence Ong (Managing Director, Pernod Ricard Malaysia) and H.E. Maria Isabel Rendon (Ambassador of Argentina).

French_Festival_GSC3“We are truly excited that contemporary French cinema is being celebrated here in Malaysia as part of the overall annual French Cultural event which includes quite a number of events to promote the culture. The French Film Festival is being screened exclusively in GSC circuit while the rest of the world celebrates the Festival de Cannes in France”, said Miss Koh Mei Lee in her welcome address during the FFF launch.

She further shared, “The Festival de Cannes is a celebration of cinematographic art – to showcase the new writing, new genres and new visual innovations of our time. Likewise, we are all present here today to celebrate the best of French cinematic offers without even leaving the country as the best of French movies are being brought to Malaysia, through the concerted efforts of the Alliance Francaise Kuala Lumpur and Penang, with the support of the Embassy of France to Malaysia.”

French_Festival_GSC2The eclectic line-up at this year’s FFF features a total of fifteen (15) French titles from comedy, romance and drama to animation and documentaries. Highlights include “Serial Bad Weddings”, “The Finishers”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Nine Month Stretch” and “Attila Marcel”.

Tickets for the FFF will be priced at prevailing ticket pricing. For movie details and more information on French Film Festival 2015, kindly log on to faff.com.my and gsc.com.my
