Next year audiences will be treated to yet another live-action fairy tale on the silver screen with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The classic cartoon, which is long considered a massive favourite amongst fans, will see Emma Watson and Dan Stevens take on the mantle of the iconic characters. Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, fans now have a first look at both Belle and the beast in his full form. Starring alongside the duo are Luke Evans as Gaston and Josh Gad as Le Fou with Kevin Kline as Maurice. Also featuring in the film voicing iconic characters such as Lumière, Cogsworth and Mrs Potts are Ewan McGregor, Sir Ian McKellen and Emma Thompson. Beauty and the Beast comes to theatres in March 2017.
The Flash Loses Director
For a show based on the fastest man alive, The Flash is sure running into a lot of problems. Following the departure of Seth Grahame-Smith from the director’s seat just a few months ago, the production has now lost its second director with the departure of Rick Famuyiwa. The director apparently left the film over creative differences. This is considered a major stumbling block for the film as it could delay production of the film. The Flash starring Ezra Miller was due to be released in March 2018. But there’s still good news for fans of the Scarlett Speedster as he will appear in Justice League due out in 2017.
TMNT 3 Doubtful
After a successful outing with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, Paramount Pictures virtually pulled the trigger on a potentially lucrative franchise. Those plans are reportedly in tatters now following the sensation flop that was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. According to producer Andrew Form, he believes the studio will likely not continue with the development of a follow-up to the movie. 2016 has proved as an abysmal year for the studios following several big budget films such as Ben-Hur and Star Trek Beyond that didn’t deliver on their returns.
Johnny Depp For Fantastic Beasts 2
Despite not being released yet, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is already inching towards a sequel at Warner Bros. The studio is apparently confident that the Harry Potter spinoff will kick off a huge franchise and they’ve even secured Johnny Depp to star in the film. Reports claim that Depp could star as Gellert Grindewald, a wizard turn baddie who will evidently play a big role in Fantastic Beasts universe. There’s also a mild speculation that he could also be portraying a young Dumbledore as well.
Olivia Munn Joins The Predator
Shane Black’s new Predator film has added two new cast members with Body Holbrook and Olivia Munn joining the production. Both actors will be taking on lead roles in the film with Holbrook, who has replaced Benicio Del Toro, portraying a Special Forces Commando. Munn will reportedly portray a scientist. The casting though is not as stunning as the other bit of news coming from the production as Black reportedly will place the setting of The Predator in the suburbs. Previous films in the franchise have been set in jungles and in gang-infested Los Angeles so it remains to be seen what transpires for the extra-terrestrial warrior hunters in American suburbia.
