Fans of The Walking Dead can look forward to more zombie mayhem now that AMC will be looking to wind down Season 5 with an extended episode. Reports claim that the Season 5 Walking Dead finale will now be extended to 90 minutes.
The Walking Dead finale is scheduled to air on Sunday, March 29 in the U.S. but viewers here should be able to catch it a day later on the Fox Channel on Astro. According a synopsis released by Entertainment Weekly, Season 5 will wind down with the group acclimatising themselves in Alexandria despite being treated like outsiders.
There is also speculation that trouble will be brewing outside the gates of this new safe haven, which could result in Alexandria being another fortress that will ultimately get breached by zombies, causing the group to go on the run again. The Walking Dead series has been known to produce multiple 90-minute episodes during their early season premieres.
Although fans are relishing the fact that they will be treated to an extended Walking Dead finale, many are also speculating that this move could result in something major for the series. Will there be series-altering incidents or will we say farewell to some regular cast members? Judging by what we’ve seen in the last several seasons, that may well be the case.
