The streaming wars are far from over with more services being rolled out. But in terms of SVOD growth, Disney+ seems to be streamer that is enjoying the most growth.
While Netflix remains the global SVOD market leader, it’s Disney+ that has had the most rapid expansion since the beginning of 2020. According to the report, 91% of the countries that offer Disney+ or Hotstar, Disney+ has grown the most out of any streaming services in the past two years.
The report was compiled from data by JustWatch, an international streaming guide with more than 20 million users across 64 countries. With Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and many others all in one place, JustWatch helps users find movies and TV shows to watch and where to watch them legally online.
Disney+ leading SVOD growth is certainly not surprising. In recent months, the streamer has been offering a number of exclusive shows and content on its platform. Recently it also premiered a slew of shows including Jungle Cruise and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on Disney+ Day on the 12th of November.
The streamer will also premiere the Hawkeye series later this month and The Book of Boba Fett in December, which will undoubtedly fuel its SVOD growth in the months ahead.
