HBO is apparently still keen to produce a Deadwood movie to tie-up all loose ends of the beloved television series. According to HBO President Michael Lombardo, the channel is still keen to focus on the David Milch series.
“David has our commitment that we are going to do it,” said Lombardo in a recent interview. “He pitched what he thought generally the storyline would be — and knowing David, that could change. But it’s going to happen.”
Deadwood was a hit series for HBO but it only lasted three seasons with the channel. The storyline of the show centred on a town in 1870 South Dakota and its colourful characters that often cross paths with each other. It had politics and drama all of which revolved around the intricacies of the Wild West. The series ended in 2006 with an open ended finish, which could have paved the way for a fourth season or a movie, which has long been gestating.
Lombardo hasn’t indicated when HBO could or would produce the Deadwood movie, so it remains to be seen if this project ever sees the light of day.
