Creed has been a fitting continuation of the Rocky franchise. A spinoff of the boxing film series, the film has set its own path with a new hero and cast of characters. Creed III is perhaps the film that will see the franchise finally stand on its own two feet.
In the first two films, Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) played an integral role in the development of Adonis Creed, the son of former rival tuned friend Apollo Creed. The second film saw another return to the original series with the return of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren).
Creed III marks a departure from the Rocky series with a story that’s more personal to the backstory of Adonis. After dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) has been thriving in both his career and family life.
When a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy, Damian (Jonathan Majors), resurfaces after serving a long sentence in prison, he is eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring. The faceoff between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Damian – a fighter who has nothing to lose.
The third instalment in the successful franchise also marks the directorial debut of Michael B. Jordan. The film also stars Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Florian Munteanu, and Phylicia Rashad. Check out the trailer below.
