It’s no secret that Warner Bros is planning a deluge of superhero film projects in the next few years, all of which will fall in line with the timeline that’s being set with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It’s also no secret that despite drawing some positive vibes with the first trailer, fans are stilled on the fence with regards to Ben Affleck playing the Caped Crusader.
But Warner Bros seems to behind the actor in more ways than one, even more so as it has been reported that the studio is currently looking at Affleck to helm the standalone Batman film. The Batman is scheduled for a release in 2018, which will see the actor reprising the character and having Affleck carry the film on both fronts is indeed an enticing prospect.
Affleck after all is an accomplish director churning out a number of critically acclaimed films in recent years like Gone Baby Gone, The Town and Argo, which won Best Picture in 2012. So although it stands as a rumour for now, there could be genuine interest from Warner and possibly Affleck himself with the idea of him directing The Batman. But all the same though, let’s see how he fares as the Dark Knight next year first.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comes to theatres in summer 2016. The Batman is scheduled for a 2018 release.
