Two of Britain’s best loved cooks, Prue Leith and Dr Rupy Aujla, are here to help families to reduce food waste, save money and help the planet on Cook Clever, Waste Less with Prue & Rupy.
If fussy kids, a hectic lifestyle, or dietary restrictions are racking up grocery bills and sending food to the bins, this four-part series will offer viewers at home inspiration to shake up their mealtimes and tackle their food waste.
Food wastage is a perpetual problem in Malaysia and according to SWCorp Malaysia (Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation), the households sector accounts for 44.5% of the 16,667.5 tonnes of food waste generated in Malaysia daily.
About 24% or 4,005 tonnes of the food waste is classified as still edible, with the quantity sufficient to provide three meals to 2,970,000 people for a day.
Why is food waste such a big issue? Because it puts pressure on our resources to dispose of food waste through incineration; wastes all the resources used to grow and deliver the food on our tables; increases our carbon footprint and ultimately leads to global warming and climate change.
Cook Clever, Waste Less with Prue & Rupy teams up with a different family each week to understand how food is wasted in their respective households, and to teach them recipes for easy-to-make, delicious meals using store cupboard staples and budget-friendly meal planning.
With some top tips and expert advice, we can help our pockets and the planet by being more creative and thoughtful about the food we buy and consume. This series aims to highlight the simple ways we can all make a difference, in our kitchens and beyond.
