With Avengers: Age of Ultron set to hit screens next summer; the creative wheels at Marvel Studios are already turning with new developments revolving around some of their franchises. The latest rumour that is coming out from Hollywood points at the storyline for Captain America 3 being the spark that sets off the Civil War storyline for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Comic book fans will remember that the story arc puts the heroes of the Marvel against each other when the Superhero Registration Act comes into play. In the comic books, the Civil War story saw Iron Man and Captain America on opposite sides of the fence of the act, which ultimately turns the Marvel Universe upside down.
It is being said that Marvel Studios could lean towards that storyline in order to offer a creative breakaway from some of its franchises, whilst creating new ones along the way. It is no secret that several stars’ contracts will be coming to an end in the next few years, which could pave the way for new stars and franchises to take over if and when Marvel decides to finally move on from Iron Man and Captain America.
Robert Downey Jr is apparently being courted for a substantial role for Captain America 3, which lends weight to the Civil War theory. Let’s see if this one pans out to be true or just another speculative misfire from the dirt sheets. Captain America 3 is slated for a release in summer 2016.
