Disney’s continuing its trend of reimagining its stockpile of fairy tale properties, and this time its Cinderella’s turn. The live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale brings to life the timeless images from Disney’s 1950 animated masterpiece as fully-realized characters in a visually-dazzling spectacle for a whole new generation.
But unlike previous fairy tale reincarnations that we’ve seen in the past years, this fairy-tale adventure seems to be sticking true to its roots judging by the first Cinderella trailer. The film follows Ella (Lily James) who finds herself at the mercy of her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera).
It is also worth noting that Cinderella is specially-effects heavy, complete with magical transforming pumpkins and mice, which are brought to life by Cinderella’s Fairy God Mother played by Helena Botham Carter.
Cinderella opens in Malaysian cinemas 12 March 2015.
