The Matrix 4 has delivered more surprises in the casting department with news of Christina Ricci joining the production. The highly anticipated sci-fi sequel directed by Lana Wachowski will see original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss return.
Also returning are Jada Pinkett-Smith, Daniel Bernhardt, and Lambert Wilson. Ricci will join new cast members to the series, which includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, and Jonathan Groff.
Christina Ricci has starred in several TV productions over the years including Z: The Beginning of Everything for Amazon Prime. She will also star in the new series Yellowjackets for Showtime.
The sequel is due to hit cinemas in December. No storyline or plot has been revealed at this point as things have been kept under wrap. The only confirmation is that Neo and Trinity will be back for another round of action.
It’s been 18 years since we last saw the duo in action. Although the original Matrix was herald as ground-breaking film in its time, its sequels largely under performed from a critic standpoint. Nevertheless, it did make a nice chunk of change for Warner Bros. The Matrix 4 is expected to do the same.
