Two weeks since its release and Aquaman is still ruling the high seas at the box-office according to a recent report. The James Wan directed superhero film starring Jason Momoa topped the charts at the international and U.S. box office with a cumulative haul of USD748 million at the start of the week.
The tally has not only surpassed Justice League, which garnered USD657 million throughout its theatrical run but it is also currently the third highest grossing DCEU film thus far. And it’s only just beginning its run in cinemas.
If Aquaman continues to do solid business, analysts predict that the film may surpass Wonder Woman’s record of USD821 million and even Batman v Superman’s USD873 million tally. It may well even breach the USD1 billion mark, which will be significant as it will mark the first time a DCEU film has managed that feat.
On the international front, Aquaman has already pulled in half a billion dollars the box-office, which has all but ensured that a sequel to the film will follow suit in the near future.
