The new Aquaman extended trailer reveals new action sequences and scenes from the upcoming DC superhero film directed by James Wan. The five-minute long trailer does hint at a new direction for the DCEU, one laced with humour and a roof top running sequence borrowed from Justin Lin’s Fast Five.
With Warner Bros. looking to overhaul the DCEU, which for now only includes Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, it will be interesting to see what will happen to this superhero universe. Facing a potential flop would likely doom Momoa’s Aquaman, leaving only Wonder Woman to fly the DCEU flag for the foreseeable future.
The new Aquaman extended trailer however does show that audiences will be treated to an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be…a king.
Aquaman also stars Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna.
Aquaman swims into cinemas in December 21st.
