Good news for fans of Ghost Rider because the Marvel character will be riding into season 4 of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. This time around the character will be portrayed by Gabriel Luna who is taking on the mantle of Robbie Reyes instead of Johnny Blaze.

“Season 4 of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will unquestionably be the series’ biggest, most ambitious story yet, and it all begins with the introduction of one of our greatest legacy characters in Ghost Rider,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “When the Spirit of Vengeance rides into S.H.I.E.L.D., it’ll change everything.”

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is executive produced and co-created by Joss Whedon (Marvel’s The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog). Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Marvel’s Daredevil) also serve as Executive Producers.   Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.

Despite Ghost Rider appearing in the series, one wonders if the character would have been done better justice if it were given an opportunity to feature in a Netflix series instead. The Punisher was arguably the main focal point of Daredevil S2 and having a character like Ghost Rider/Johnny Blaze appear in a Netflix series could give the character a spinoff of its own.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns this September.
