We haven’t seen or even heard much about the new Agent Carter series from Marvel. But now, after the Marvel One-Short: Agent Carter and the brief cameo in the season two opener of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, we now finally have an official synopsis regarding the new Marvel TV series.
Marvel’s Agent Carter is set just after the end of World War II with Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) struggling to find her place in post war America. Stuck doing administrative duties with the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), she finds a momentary reprieve with the arrival of Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) who enlists her help to clear his name after being framed for trading weapons.
With Stark’s back against the wall, the tech genius has no choice but to rely on Peggy, the only person he trusts to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons and clear his name. He even empowers his butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy), to be at her beck and call when needed to help assist her as she investigates and tracks down those responsible for releasing these weapons of mass destruction.
However, the mission Peggy embarks on isn’t as straightforward as it seems. If she’s caught going on these secret duties for Stark, Peggy could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison – or worse. And as she delves deeper into her investigation, she may find that those she works for are not who they seem, and she might even begin to question whether Stark is as innocent as he claims.
Marvel’s Agent Carter is set to premiere in January 2015 on ABC. Check out the first TV spot after the jump.
