There’s a new instalment to the Predator franchise and its called Prey.
Honestly, this is news to many because the production of the film has been kept relatively low key. Ever since Disney acquired FOX many were left wondering what the house of mouse would do with some of its properties.
Predator was clearly one of the franchises that left a huge question mark. After all, despite its fan base, several productions failed to live up to expectations. But now, Disney has appeared to quietly have made a new instalment to the franchise and quite frankly it does look promising.
An all-new entry in the Predator franchise, Prey will premiere in Summer 2022. Although most of the films have been set in the modern era, the newest film under the Disney banner will be a prequel of sorts.
Prey is set in the world of the Comanche Nation 300 years ago. The action-thriller follows Naru, the skilled warrior who fiercely protects her tribe against a highly evolved alien predator. The film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and produced by Jhane Myers.
Ditching bombs, guns and ammo for bow and arrows and axes may seem rudimentary but perhaps that’s what the franchise needs. By going back to basics with a predator versus prey setting, perhaps is the formula the sci-fi series desperately needs.
On Disney+ Day, the studio provided a first image from the new film. We eagerly wait for Disney to reveal the first look at its upcoming film in the weeks ahead.
