Despite an over-extended cast in the Expendables 3, the franchise could do with a little star power from these action-oriented actors…
The Expendables 3 had a good mix of old and new faces and despite being a little top heavy on the casting list, we still the franchise could do with a few more big names added to the franchise. So, if the producers of the series ever find it worth their while to do a fourth Expendables film, let’s hope they consider some of these actors to join in on the fun…
The franchise could do with a touch of gentlemanly presence and who better to bring it than the man who played James Bond himself. Brosnan is no stranger to witty one-liners and the action genre, which should make him an ideal fit for the series. And it would do Jason Statham no harm to have another British officer in the ranks.
Rumour has it that Russell has no interest in joining Sly in the Expendables franchise, which is a shame. The actor has displayed the chops as an action star in such classics like Escape from New York, Big Trouble in Little China and Tango and Cash, which he headlined with Stallone. Let’s hope he warms up to the idea of making it into the fourth one.
Arguably, the Expendables are missing out big time on not having Chan join in on the fun. Having both Jet Li and Chan will not only make for an interesting mix but also open up more avenues to hit the lucrative China box-office as well. Plus, Chan is in his element with his comedic and action routine, a formula that the Expendables have been following all this while.
His portrayal of Drax The Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy has had Hollywood sitting up and taking notice of this WWE wrestler. Despite being relatively new to the movie business, Bautista has proven he can deliver a good performance. Plus, he has the brawn and muscle to back-it up too.
The Rock would make a welcome addition to the Expendables franchise provided filmmakers would make it worth his while. Having the world’s current biggest action star in the most successful action franchise just seems like a perfect recipe for success, if you smell what we’re cooking.
SAMUEL L. JACKSON
The Expendables would benefit greatly from having Jackson join the cast. After all, the actor is no stranger to the action and ensemble movie genre. Besides, no one better on the planet can drop an F-bomb like Jackson can, which should make for interesting on-screen banter.
Despite gaining a late start, Neeson has proven he is a bonafide action star and on-screen badass. In fact, it’s a role he seems to relish in judging by his latest string of action thrillers he’s been headlining.Being in one more, wouldn’t hurt a bit..
The star of Machete has made a name for himself in B-grade-esque type action productions. And we’re stumped really why this Mexican star hasn’t as yet made the cast list of the Expendables yet.
Rumour is he’s a bit hard to work with, which is probably why we might never see Seagal in an Expendables film. But if both parties could come into an agreement, then watching the master of Akido joining the melee should make for an exciting watch.
The Scottish actor could need a career jump-start and the Expendables could be the vehicle he needs. Butler who is certainly no slouch having starred in mega hits like 300, Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life and Gamer should feel right at home with the other Expendable cast members.
That’s our list, who would you want to see in the next Expendables?
