With the popularity of superhero movies at an all-time high, fans are being treated to comic-book adaptations on both big screen as well as small screen. Marvel is currently developing a few properties within the television sphere with Netflix whilst DC has already put out a number of series such as Gotham and the third season of Arrow to enthral audiences.
Now, Fox is considering entering the fray by developing an X-Men live-action series for the small screen. Apparently, Fox is looking to extend their mutant franchise into the television, the same way Marvel and Disney have done with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter.
Although most of this news is speculative at best, there is no denying that an X-Men series could make for an intriguing watch. The mutant universe boasts a number of characters and comic books, which could provide the foundation to the series.
Furthermore, with the time travel reset to the franchise, we can see the X-Men series serving as a missing-link to the developments after X-Men: Days of Future Past. The series could fill in the gaps so to speak, in order to bring fans of the movie franchise up to speed with the various changes to the X-Men universe.
Let’s see if this one takes off, or will it just remain a hot rumour for some time to come.
