We haven’t heard much about The Batman film, except that it will be directed by Matt Reeves and quite possibly feature a new actor as the Dark Knight. That would not be surprising to say the least as Ben Affleck has pretty much been uncommitted to the role following the less than stellar Justice League film from 2017.
The DCEU is apparently being retooled and it looks like it will now be built on the successful backs of Aquaman and Wonder Woman. Even its new films, Shazam! and the standalone Joker movie seems to be carving its own path, one that is far removed from the universe created by Zack Snyder.
Now recent reports suggest that Warner Bros is itching to go ahead with Reeves’ The Batman project with production beginning as early as November this year. No details have revealed yet regarding the project except that Reeves is looking for a treatment that’s more closely tied to the Batman Year One comic book.
As such it is most likely that Warner Bros will move ahead with a younger actor in order to drive the franchise forward. Currently, the studio is also putting the finishing touches to Wonder Woman 1984 and Birds of Prey, both of which will be released in 2020.
