Marvel Studios has finally found the actress to portray Captain Marvel and they’ve settled no less with someone with Oscar credentials. Brie Larson who captured the Oscar for Best Actress for the indie drama, Room will take on the mantle of Carol Danvers, a military pilot who is bestowed super strenth, invulnerability and the power of flight. Captain Marvel will be helmed by directors Joe and Anthony Russo with a target release date set for March 2019.

Kurt Russell’s Role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2
kurt_russel_fast_7Comic-con has revealed a number of cool surprises one of which is Kurt Russell’s role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. It was an open secret that the actor would be portraying Star Lord’s dad in the film but now it’s been revealed that he will in fact be playing the character Ego. In the comics, Ego was a living planet, which creates a new dynamic between Peter Quill and his father. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 will also benefit from another veteran actor with Sylvester Stallone featuring in the film as well.

First Look: Star Trek Discovery

New series, new crew, new ship. The new CBS Star Trek series officially has a name and it’s called Star Trek: Discovery. No official synopsis has been revealed about the new series but at the recent Comic-Con, CBS revealed a short clip from the series showcasing the new starship. U.S.S. Discovery designated NCC-1031 takes the spotlight in the new video. No timeline has been set for the series but judging by the retro feel of the ship, which looks like a cross between a Federation ship and a Klingon vessel, may put the series somewhere before the original series.

New Additions To Legends of Tomorrow

The new season of Legends of Tomorrow will see some changes, mostly in the villain department. It seems that The CW’s ensemble superhero series will feature a team of supervillains and they will be recruited from the ranks of both the Arrow and The Flash series. The Legion of Doom as they’ll be called will feature Malcolm Merlyn, Damien Darhk, Reverse Flash and Captain Cold. But the good guys won’t be left wanting as they’ll benefit from heroes such as Hourman, Obsidian, Stargirl and Dr. Mid-Nite who are set to hop aboard the Waverider.

Meryl Streep Joins Marry Poppins Returns
woods1Academy Award winning actress, Meryl Streep is the latest big name to have joined Mary Poppins Returns. The musical which sees Emily Blunt taking on the mantle of the singing nanny will be directed by Rob Marshall. Incidentally this film will mark a reunion of sorts as Streep, Blunt and Marshall also collaborated on the musical Into the Woods. Streep will reportedly portray Poppins’ cousin, Topsy, who in case you’re wondering was not in the 1964 original.
