The TRON franchise is reportedly headed for a big screen reboot courtesy of Disney and it could very well have Jared Leto in the lead. Reports claim that the sci-fi franchise is now being considered for a restart by Disney with Leto being scouted for a leading role.
The film franchise was due to have a third instalment following TRON: Legacy but with the film panned by both critics and fans, those plans were shelved. However, it seems that Disney is now keen on a reboot to the series, and they are specifically looking at Leto to lead the charge on the new film.
The original TRON wasn’t a massive hit when it was released but it has gone on to become a cult classic. It is also widely praised for the risks it took in the realm of special effects when it was released in the 80s.
The original film starred Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner as a pair of computer programmer who inadvertently find themselves into a computer generated world where they would have to fight to stay alive.
