Adam Samberg is leading the charge for the HBO comedy Tour de Pharmacy, which pokes fun at doping scandal that rocked the sport of cycling. Coming along for the ride are an ensemble cast, which includes Orlando Bloom, Daveed Diggs, John Cena, Dolph Lundgren, Phylicia Rashad, Freddie Highmore, Julia Ormond, Mike Tyson and believe it or not a cameo appearance by Lance Armstrong himself.
Tour de Pharmacy is set to premiere on HBO in early July 2017, just in time for this year’s Tour de France competition. The official synopsis reads…
In 1982, during a dark and fictitious time in cycling history, the sport’s most venerable, time-honoured race was marred by the doping of virtually all of its competitors. Riddled with nefarious characters, that year’s competition was a hornet’s nest of moral depravity. Through the perspective of five riders, Tour de Pharmacy gives an inside look into the grim realities of the darkest event in a sport notoriously tainted by controversy.
Tour de Pharmacy is executive produced by Samberg (Brooklyn 99; HBO’s 7 Days In Hell), and written and executive produced by Murray Miller (King of the Hill; HBO’s Girls).
