After numerous hiccups and delays, it looks like the next James Bond adventure is finally taking shape. Following Daniel Craig’s announcement that he will portray the British superspy one last time, director Danny Boyle has also announced his involvement with the film. However Boyle isn’t a 100% lock for the director’s chair. He is currently working with long-time collaborator John Hodge on a script and will only sign on if a suitable story can be developed. Boyle will be working on a Richard Curtis film next. Bond 25 is expected to be released in late 2019.
Artemis Fowl Begins Production
Disney is bringing to life the Artemis Fowl book series with the help of director, Kenneth Branagh. The book series by Eoin Colfer tells the story of a boy genius/ criminal mastermind who goes up against a race of fairies. Currently, the film is undergoing principal photography in various locales around the world including the UK and Asia. Disney’s Artemis Fowl stars Judy Dench, Josh Gad and Nonso Anozie and is scheduled to open in cinemas in early August 2019.
Nicolas Cage To Voice Superman
Two decades after nearly getting to play the Man of Steel, Nicolas Cage will now get the opportunity to realise his dream by finally playing the Superman character. However, Cage will only be voicing Superman in the upcoming Teen Titans GO! to the Movies. The animated movie, which is an extended feature length version of the Cartoon Network series will arrive in cinemas in late July. Cage was originally supposed to play the Man of Steel in Superman Lives!, which was supposed to be directed by Tim Burton in the 90s.
Peele & Key Reunite For Wendell and Wild
Fresh off his Oscar win for best screenplay, Jordan Peele is back to collaborating with long-time partner, Keegan-Michael Key for Wendell and Wild. The stop motion animated film will be backed by Netflix and directed by Henry Selick. Wendell and Wild will centre on two scheming demon brothers who must face their demon sister and her two henchmen. This is the second stop-motion project being developed by Netflix, the other being Bubbles, which revolves around Michael Jackson’s pet chimp, which is being put together by Taika Waititi.
Ava DuVernay To Direct The New Gods
A Wrinkle In Time director, Ava DuVernay looks set to direct the DC live-action adaptation of The New Gods for Warner Bros. The film will be based on the characters created by Jack Kirby. However, it is said that the film will have no connection to the DCEU. Kirby created The New Gods and characters such as Mister Miracle and Big Barda in the early 70s following his departure from Marvel. The comic book focused on characters who resided on planets New Genesis and Apokolips, which is ruled by Darkseid.
