The Crow reboot is dead again and Sony Pictures may well pull the plug following the departure of director, Corin Hardy and star Jason Momoa.
Quite frankly, this new film had the best shot at being made. It even had an October 2019 release date pencilled in. But frankly with all these issues plaguing the production, it’s safe to say that The Crow franchise may well be truly cursed.
The original film was a cult classic but it also was the film that saw action star Brandon Lee die on set after a freak accident. Since then there have been several reboots planned for the franchise but none ever came to fruition.
Although no one really knows why The Crow reboot failed this time but a lot of the buzz is stemming from creative differences and financial difficulties. Momoa who’s been an advocate of the project for a while and who was due to play Eric Draven penned a statement following his departure from the project.
“I’ve waited 8 years to play this dream role. I love you @corinhardy and @sonypictures unfortunately I may have to wait 8 more. Not our team. But I swear I will. James O’Barr sorry to let you down I won’t on the next. This film needs to be set free. And to the fans. Sorry. I can’t play anything but what this film deserves and it needs love. I’m ready when it’s right. Love u Corin aloha j”
