Warner Bros. has released The Batman trailer, which gives fans a first and proper look at Matt Reeves’ take on the Dark Knight. The short teaser should please fans of the character as it feels grim and gritty, and more in tune with the ‘detective’ nature of the Batman.
Robert Pattinson takes the reigns of the titular character, looking the part of a younger and possibly greener Dark Knight. Also seen in the trailer are The Riddler (Paul Dano), Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz) and Commissioner Gordon (Jeffrey Wright). We also get a glimpse of the new Batmobile, which is arguably the most realistic take on the iconic vehicle thus far.
That said, although The Batman trailer does reveal some details of the film, plus introductions to the key characters, fans will have to wait a while to see Colin Farrell channel The Penguin. The character was noticeably absent from the footage this time around.
The Batman stopped production mid-way in March due to the pandemic. Reeves and his crew are expected to get cameras rolling again in September, with the hopes of the film making its October 2021 release date.
