Thor fans will be glad to know that director, Taika Waititi will return to helm the fourth instalment featuring the God of Thunder. Following Thor: Ragnarok, which reinvigorated the franchise, fans will surely be excited to see what the director has up his sleeves for the next sequel.
Ragnarok is credited in breathing new life into the Thor character with its humorous take coupled by the addition of interesting supporting characters like Valkyrie and Korg, which was incidentally voiced by Waititi himself.
However the director’s return to the franchise has come at the expense of Akira, the upcoming big screen adaptation of the classic Manga series. The film, which is being developed at Warner Bros., is temporary shelved due to numerous production issues.
Akira will need to wait till the completion of Thor 4 before securing the services of Waititi again, less of course Warner Bros. decides to go another route with a new director. As for Thor 4, that film is pencilled in for a summer 2021 release at the moment.
Waititi however has a full plate of projects on his table with directorial duties for Jojo Rabbit, which is a said to be a whimsical fantasy tale and also the Disney++ series, The Mandalorian. He is also starring in the action comedy, Free Guy, which is being directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Reynolds.
