It looks like Sony is rapidly expanding on its Spider-Man universe with a number of new announcements. It’s being reported that the superhero franchise at Sony will now feature a new Marvel Cinematic Universe character for the sequel that is being planned.
With Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming, it will be interesting to see which character or member of the Avengers will appear in Spider-Man 2. Additionally, Sony is also looking at some iconic Spidey villains to appear in the sequel as well.
The Spider-Man universe is set to expand even more with the arrival of Mysterio as well as Kraven the Hunter, which should be well received by fans. With The Vulture already appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming, it would seem that Sony is gearing up towards more of the wall-crawler’s rogues gallery for the future.
As far as Sony’s superhero properties, the studio is already planning a Venom movie starring Tom Hardy and a Silver Sable/Black Cat movie, titled Silver & Black, which will begin production this year.
