Sony and Screen Gems have released the first trailer for the upcoming horror-flick, the Slender Man, which is loosely based on folklore.
The film takes place in a small town in Massachusetts, where four high school girls perform a ritual in an attempt to debunk the lore of Slender Man. When one of the girls goes mysteriously missing, they begin to suspect that she is, in fact, ‘his’ latest victim.
Slender Man is directed by Sylvian White (The Losers) and stars Joey King, Julia Goldani-Telles, Jaz Sinclair, Annalise Basso, and Javier Botet. The film is due to open in cinemas in mid-May 2018.
Interestingly though is that the idea of the film is based on the true account of two 12-year-olds who tried to kill one of their friends because a mysterious person/boogeyman called the ‘Slender Man’ told them to do it. The case happened in 2014 and remains a prominent story shared on the Internet.
