The next instalment to the Sherlock Holmes franchise will see a new man take the reins with Dexter Fletcher stepping in as director. Rocketman director replaces Guy Ritchie who previously helmed both Sherlock Holmes films prior.
The third instalment to the franchise has been in development for several years but it now looks like it’s slowly beginning to take shape. Robert Downey Jr. is returning as the iconic detective with Jude Law reprising his role as his trusty partner, Watson.
With Downey’s involvement with the Marvel Cinematic Universe over following Avengers: Endgame, the bankable star will no doubt want to sink his teeth into projects. Preferably those without having him don a suit of armour.
Sherlock Holmes 3 is reportedly set a number of years after the events of Game of Shadows and is pencilled in for a release in Christmas 2021.
