It looks like DC and Warner Bros are revamping their cinematic universe with movies such as Shazam on the chop block. Rumours are circling that the big wigs are looking to tweak their plans for the foreseeable future when it comes to some of their superhero properties.
Shazam could be the first casualty of this, which could also change plans for Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson. The anti-hero was supposed to play a pivotal role in Shazam, eventually paving a way forward for a standalone film of its own. Now though, it’s more likely that Black Adam will be thrust into Man of Steel 2 portraying its lead antagonist.
According to the rumour mill, Warner Bros pulled the plug on Shazam due to a lack of confidence with initial drafts of the script for the film.
Although all this is merely speculation at this point of time, Warner Bros though is expanding some of its other superhero, specifically those tied into the Batman universe. The studio is already prepping four films based in Gotham including The Batman, Gotham City Sirens, Nightwing as well as a Batgirl film.
For now it’s all systems go for Justice League as well as the Aquaman standalone film project as well.
