It goes without saying that we all love our pets. And we make it a point to pamper them every way we can. Some of us even go so far as to watch our favourite shows with our four legged friends. It’s no surprise that our pets play a big part in our entertainment viewing habits. If you’re the sort who is often curled up on the couch catching up on your favourite TV show, with your loyal pet, then you’re not the only one.
A recent survey* released by Netflix reveals that most people (58%) find pets to be the best binge partner. In fact, within the Asia Pacific region, Thailand (80%) and India (75%) had the most number of people agreeing that pets make the best companions for watching your favourite shows.
Taking our love for our pets to new extremes, the study also reveals that more than a third of respondents (37%) have ACTUALLY moved where they were sitting so their pet would be more comfortable! Some (12%) have even gone so far as turning off a show because their pet didn’t appear to like it, while a good 19% of folks have picked shows to watch because they thought their pet would like it. Further proving just how overly attached some of us can be to our pets, 22% have bribed their paw-some pals with treats to keep watching with them!
So, what are the shows everyone is barking, meowing and chirping about? Dog owners are more likely to choose dramas like Narcos and The Crown. Cat owners prefer sci-fi series like Black Mirror and Star Trek Discovery. Meanwhile, bird lovers are egged on by comedies like Grace and Frankie.
The one show that brings all streaming species together… Stranger Things (#justiceformews).
So, does your best binge buddy have four paws and a tail?
