The newest trailer for Mulan not only showcases new scenes from the film but also its long-overdue release date. Covid-19 has upended a lot of plans for Hollywood, causing delays of films, some to next year. But it looks like fans will finally get to see the long-awaited live-action remake of Mulan, which will arrive in cinemas as well as Disney+ this September.
Directed by Niki Caro, the film sees Yifei Liu channelling the female warrior. For fans keen to watch this on the Disney streaming service, they will need to fork over USD30 for the premiere access. For places where Disney+ isn’t available, like Malaysia, we can still get to enjoy the theatrical experience.
In Mulan, when the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father.
Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential. It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honoured warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation- and a proud father.
Mulan also stars Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Gong Li, and Jet Li.
