One of the gripes fans had about Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla was the lack of screen time of the titular monster but the new Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer seems to have addressed that. Krampus director, Michael Dougherty, seems to be providing fans with all the monsters they would need in one epic movie.
The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.
When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance. The new Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer suggests that the humans have to begrudgingly allow Godzilla to battle for them.
The most interesting aspect of the new film will undoubtedly be how King Kong ties into the mayhem. The great ape is part of this new monster universe at Legendary, evident by the ending of the post credits of Skull Island. Godzilla vs Kong is also being planned, which likely means a teaser or two might be set-up in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
Starring Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Kyle Chandler Bradley Whitford, Ken Watanabe, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Sally Hawkins, Godzilla: King of the Monsters stomps into cinemas in May 2019.
