Netflix’s The Main Event centres on an 11-year-old wrestling fan who discovers a magical mask, which gifts him super powers. Practically a superhero, he focuses his attention on living his dream by becoming a wrestling superstar with WWE.
This is essentially the premise of The Main Event, which seems to be a collaborative production between Netflix and WWE. It’s a great [wrestling] move too as it features some of the stars of the squared circle, mainly like The Miz, Sheamus and Otis from Heavy Machinery.
Directed by Jay Karas, the story of this film revolved around 11-year-old Leo Thompson (Seth Carr) who discovers a magical wrestling mask that grants him super strength. Realising his new talents, he uses it to enter a WWE competition.
With the support of his grandmother (Tichina Arnold), Leo will do whatever it takes to achieve his dream of becoming a WWE Superstar. Can one kid win it all, in the face of epic challengers in the ring?
