Netflix has just introduced its Smart Downloads feature for viewers to enjoy seamless and hassle free viewing anytime, anywhere. The new feature allows viewers to not only watch a downloaded episode of their favourite show, but it will also delete it and then automatically download the next episode.
“You watch, we do the work, explains Cameron Johnson, Director of Product Innovation of Netflix. “We know how annoying it can be to go through all your apps and delete files you no longer need; we also understand that when it comes to Netflix, the faster you can get to the next episode you want to watch, the better. Whether it is smart downloading or viewing a mobile preview, we realise the best part of Netflix is connecting with the stories you will love in an easier and more fun way.”
Smart Downloads only works when viewers are connected to Wi-Fi and they will see a status notification on their device when downloading is in progress. A notification will be sent when the downloads are complete.
Viewers can also opt out of the smart downloading feature. On top of the Downloads tab, there is an edit option on the top right hand of the screen. Once you clicking on that, they can toggle the smart downloading option to Off.
