The Mission: Impossible franchise has largely had two things in common – Tom Cruise and insane stunts. The fifth instalment to the series sticks close to script as it delivers both in pretty incredible amounts.
Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation (yep, that’s the title of the film) sees Ethan Hunt seemingly on the run again in order to investigate a potential anti-IMF threat. His hunch seems to be true with the discovery of a Rogue Nation, which consists of teams doing the exact same thing the IMF does, except they’re the bad guys.
Naturally, with Hunt not being able to trust anyone, (as always) he enlists the help of a handful of close friends and familiar faces to deal with this new threat. What follows next seems to be another action packed delivery from director Christopher McQuarrie with insane action sequences, fight scenes and a high-speed two wheel chase, which seems like a nod to John Woo’s M:I 2.
Of course, like all Mission: Impossible films, there’s always a big stunt sequence to cap off the film and this time around that comes in the form of a jaw-dropping airplane scene, that truly looks spectacular. Starring alongside Cruise is franchise regulars, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner and Ving Rhames who marks his return to the series.
Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation opens later this year.
