It looks like Michelle Yeoh will be donning a Starfleet uniform soon as she’s been scouted for a role in Star Trek: Discovery. The highly-anticipated return of Star Trek to television has hit a couple of speed bumps but it looks as if this recent appointment may put the series back on track.
Star Trek: Discovery has been in ‘space dock’ over the last several months with several production delays. The series will also debut on the new CBS All Access platform. According to recent reports, Yeoh has been scouted to portray the lead in the series, which is described as a female, human, non-captain Starfleet officer.
Yeoh does come with good credentials with scene stealing roles in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon as well as Tomorrow Never Dies as well as a long list of accomplishments in Hong Kong cinema as well.
Although the appointment isn’t sealed in stone as yet, Star Trek: Discovery may well miss its premiere in May 2017 if production doesn’t get underway soon. Previously, the producers revealed a short teaser showcasing the new Starship ready to warp into action.
